Daphney Jean

Daphney Jean, the Founder and Principal Consultant at SMJ Consulting, has worked as a grant writer for numerous clients, including Borealis Philanthropy, Haitian Ladies Network, Midtown Youth Academy, Arbol, and Tahirih Justice Center.

She has also subcontracted with English Hudson and Bloom Consulting, where she has had the pleasure of writing proposals and grant reports for a diverse array of clients: UnidosUS (formerly National Council of La Raza), Faith in Action, Haitian Ladies Network, CLLCTIVLY, Americans for Financial Reform and their c3 counterpart Americans for Financial Reform Education Fund, Women's Prison Association (WPA), the National Association of Black Accountants, Inc. (NABA), the Joint Center for Political and Economic Studies, AtWork, and Cares of Washington.

As a result of her grant writing efforts, Daphney has successfully raised more than $18 million in the past seven years from the Morris and Gwendolyn Cafritz Foundation, the Zanvyl and Isabelle Krieger Fund, the Heising-Simons Foundation, the U.S Department of Commerce, the JPB Foundation, and the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, among others.
